The latest report from the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, David Bolt, confirms that 4 out of 10 deportations of ‘foreign criminals’ are cancelled, often at public expense.
A major reason is the lack of security staff to accompany deportees on flights out of the UK. The Home Office is responsible for organising the flights and its inefficiency and incompetence are entirely to blame where deportations are cancelled for this reason.
A separate report suggests that the Home Office has lost contact with over 70,000 students after their entry to the UK.
The BBC has the story. The first report can be accessed here.
